Curriculum

The Windmill Nursery meets in its own building with an internal layout that allows constant supervision of all children, ready access to equipment, plenty of space for activities of every nature and for effective display of work.

For 3 to 5 year olds we provide a curriculum for the foundation stage of education. We closely adhere to the National Curriculum Guidance provided by the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority and the Development for Education and Skills.

The guidance divides children's learning and development into 6 areas ...

Personal, social and emotional development.

Communication, language and literacy development.

Mathematical development.

Knowledge and understanding of the world.

Physical development.

Creative development.

For each area the guidance sets out early learnign goals and the stepping stones neede to achieve them. The Windmill Nursery use the stepping stones and goals to provide the right activities for the children to move forward, as well as assisting us to track each child's progress.

"The quality of the teaching and learning is good. Children make good progress towards the early learning goals of the Foundation Stage. The planning is closely monitored and fully evaluated. It effectively covers all the six areas of learning, which ensures the children are making good progress towards the early learning goals of the Foundation Stage."
